Eurimages

Eurimages is the European Council’s Support Fund for European cinema. Established in 1989, it currently consists of 36 member states. Eurimages aims to promote the development of the European audiovisual industry, by providing financial support to feature films, animation and documentaries in Europe.

In doing so, it encourages cooperation between professionals established in different European countries. The Fund has an annual total budget of €25.000.000, derived mainly from the contributions of member states. Eurimages has four support schemes: cinema co-production, theatrical distribution, exhibition and digitisation of cinemas. There are four calls for projects every year under the different support schemes, to which relevant selection criteria apply. The representatives of the member states meet four times a year.

Cyprus is among the founding members of Eurimages and has consistently participated in the Fund from the very beginning. Funding by Eurimages is one of the most important means of obtaining financial support for Cypriot films. Cyprus is represented at Eurimages by an officer of the Cultural Services.
