The Thessaloniki Documentary Festival has the pleasure to organize for the first time the Agora Pitching Forum bridging projects with experts and financiers. In the well known hospitable environment of the TDF, you will have the opportunity to network with professionals and colleagues and fine-tune your project to reach its maximum potential.
The Agora Pitching Forum consists of a three-day programme, where 10 select documentary projects will receive development consultancy and intensive pitching training. The projects will be pitched to a panel of international financiers from leading broadcasters. The pitching session is followed by individual meetings between pitchers and financiers for in-depth discussions about further development and possible future collaboration.
We are looking for:
- Feature length documentary projects (52 min or more) from Southeastern Europe and the Mediterranean region.
- They should be either produced or co-produced by a country within these regions or contain narrative elements that link them to these regions.
- Projects should have a producer and a director attached and could be in all stages of development.
- Our main focus in the selection procedure will be on projects that present a high possibility of being realized, combining this quality with artistic elements.
- Countries that are eligible to submit are: Albania, Algeria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, FYROM, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Kosovo, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Malta, Montenegro, Morocco, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey and UNMI Kosovo.
- Projects produced by countries not mentioned in the above list can still apply if they are co-produced by a country within these regions or contain narrative elements that link them to these regions.

TORINO SHORT FILM MARKET 2018: CALL FOR FILMS
The Torino Short Film Market (22-25 November 2018) involves four
days of short film screenings exclusively open to accredited professionals.
Participants in the TSFM are also provided with access to a video
library that contains the submitted films and remains online for six
months after the end of the event. At the 2017 Torino Short Film
Market, 30 international buyers took part. The TSFM is a valuable
opportunity to find a buyer or distributor for a short film.

THE APPLICATION FOR MOTOVUN
In order to be accepted for the preselection, films must have had their
national premieres (not applicable to Croatian films) that took place in the
past 18 months prior to the festival. Films for the Motovun Shorts
selection must be up to 20 minutes in lenght. The best film in Motovun
Shorts program will be awarded with 1000 Euros cash prize.
All the applicants will be notified of the preselection process results by
29th June, 2018.

Motovun Film Festival (24.-28. July 2018) is one of the most popular
cultural events in Croatia and the best known film festivals of
Southeastern Europe, devoted to international independent films.
Diversity is our trademark: more various esthetic approaches,
more languages, more diverse stories. As Motovun Film Festival wants to
be a festival with a soul, its program celebrates films with a soul –
films standing out with their stories, warmth and innovation.
The festival takes place within the walls of the small medieval town of
Motovun, nestled on a hilltop close to the Adriatic coast. The festival is
known for its informal and relaxed atmosphere, without red carpets,
enabling direct contact between filmmakers and audience.
Every year it attracts some 25,000 visitors, and in five days of the
festival more than 100 films are shown.

The 15th Sofia Meetings will take place from 15th till 18th March 2018 in the framework of the 22nd Sofia International Film Festival (8th – 18th March 2018).
Sofia Meetings is an event, supported by Creative Europe MEDIA sub-programme of the European Commission, EA Bulgarian National Film Center and Sofia Municipality.
It has two separate modules:
Feature Films Pitching – presentation of first, second and third feature fiction film projects of the director, looking for co-producers, sales and distribution.
Balkan Screenings / Works in Progress – showcase of the latest Bulgarian and regional feature and short films; Screenings of works by filmmakers whose projects have been presented at Sofia Meetings. The screenings are for professionals: for directors and programmers of international film festivals, sales companies and distributors; some of them are also for journalists.

Funding of Short Fiction Film Productions by the South Eastern European Cinema Network (SEE)
The Ministry of Education and Culture announces that the South Eastern European Cinema Network (SEE) launches a contest between its member-states for the funding of Proposals for Short Fiction Films. In its next meeting, to be held this coming November in Thessaloniki, the Network will examine the submitted proposals and select the best among them to be funded.

CineLink Work in Progress call for entries is now open. Deadline for submitting the applications is July 1, 2017.
CineLink Work in Progress selects films in post-production to be presented in a closed three-day event, taking place from August 14 – 16, 2017. The section is carefully curated on both ends. Up to 10 projects are selected for presentation to specialized sales agents, top festivals programmers, representatives of public funds and postproduction services offering businesses, thus creating an environment that boosts the chance the projects are completed and taken to the international market in the best possible way. In recent years an impressive number of CineLink Work in Progress projects gain an international recognition, with premieres and awards in Berlin, Venice, Tribeca, Sundance and other festivals.

VENICE PRODUCTION BRIDGE – Venice Gap – Financing Market
The call for projects is open. Submission deadline is June 5, 2016 .
The Venice Production Bridge is launching the call for projects of the Venice Gap-Financing Market which will take place from September 2 to 4, 2016 during the 73. Venice Film Festival. The Venice Gap-Financing Market is a platform to support the European and international producers to secure the final financing of their projects through one-to-one meetings with potential and pertinent international professionals and financiers. The main criteria of this original event is to have 70% of the financing in place and the Venice Production Bridge will offer 25 selected feature-length fiction films and documentaries the unique opportunity to close their international financing through selected financiers, producers, distributors, sales agents and film funds.
