A breath taking scene of fishing boats in the background together with enchanting fishing shelters and small harbours, all create an important part of the island’s connection to the sea, which also serves as an important source for fresh fish, served in taverns all over Cyprus.
In some areas, the freshest fish are served at seafood restaurants overlooking the beautiful beaches and the endless blue of the sea. The Department of Fisheries and Marine Research is responsible for the management and development of existing fishing shelters on the island, as well as of the construction of new ones with the aim of providing a safe shelter for professional fishing boats, as well as recreational boats.
