WORTHY

The discovery of an icon, which seems to be crying, launches Elias’ remarkable journey from cemetery caretaker to holy man. SENIOR CITIZEN

Theoharis, an elderly and lonely man, takes refuge every evening in the hospital to spend the night on the benches and chairs of the outpatients’ wing. Every morning he returns to his house, where his only companion is his cat and his memories. One night he is discovered by a young nurse, Evgenia, who tries to learn more about him. Theoharis is initially sceptical and refuses to give her any information. Gradually, however, a relationship of trust between the two begins to build. A film that deals with loneliness, old age and the marginalization of elderly people.

Animal

Under the hot Greek sun, the animateurs at an all-inclusive island resort prepare for the busy touristic season. “Nonna” Kalia is the leader of the pack. Paper decors, glossy costumes, characters reminiscent of famous pop personas and dance shows fill the hotel’s stage. As summer intensifies and the pressure of their everyday grind builds up, Kalia’s nights turn violent and her wild summer story is revealed in the darkness. But when the spotlights are turned on again, her show must go on.

EVERY SUNDAY

A group of Filipino domestic workers in Cyprus prepare for a beauty pageant organised by the local community. The participants use it as an opportunity to gather once a week – their only day off – and to redefine their position as migrant working women in Cypriot society and reclaim their individuality. Meanwhile, an unprecedented case of a serial killer targeting foreign female workers and their little daughters comes to the surface, causing the reaction of the Filipino community.

TRANSIT

Fourteen years old, Sami lives with his father in a refugee camp in Cyprus. One day he witnesses the death of a refugee who commits suicide by setting himself on fire. During the dinner with his father, Sami tries to talk to him about their possibility to go back home after the war. Father has nothing to reply. Surrounded by strangers and a sullen atmosphere in the camp, Sami runs away in the middle of the night.

Lily, an intersex woman, has to face her traumatic past to prevent history from repeating itself, when her intersex niece is forced into corrective surgery.
